Knight Online Most Downloaded:
Coming out of the Austin Game Conference is news from K2 Network announcing that their title Knight Online has become the most popular MMO game downloaded from Download.com
Since the official launch on December 2004, Knight Online has experienced a steady increase in user registration and successfully reached over two million registered accounts and is quickly reaching forty thousand concurrent users. In response to its rapid growth the company added three new worlds, tripled its operation and support staff and completely revamped the game with a major upgrade called "Return of King" (a.k.a Empire Patch), exceeding customers' expectations.

Furthermore, the company will launch its sixth world named Olympia during the first half of November, 2005. In conjunction with the new server launch the company plans to run its first ever class-based tournament "Tower of Might" to determine the best in each class. Thus, a total of four tournaments will be run to determine the best player in each class in a full PvP (Player vs. Player) setting.

"We are thrilled about CNet's recent recognition of Knight Online as the most popular MMORPG title on Download.com. We believe this success has been achieved largely through our intense focus on PvP features and the ground-breaking Free2Play pricing strategy that no other major fantasy MMORPG in North America has tried on a large scale. It represents K2 Network's commitment to offering what today's gamers want and an approach to innovation and creativity." said Joshua Hong, Chief Executive Officer of K2 Network.

He also added "We put our gamers first because we are grateful for the overwhelming success of Knight Online. We will continue to listen to our fans and strengthen close relationships with them by making Knight Online the destination for MMO gamers who want the world's most exciting, heart-pumping PvP events."
The game has PvP!

MMO Game Comic Book Creator:
Planetwide Games (North American importer of Risk Your Life, which was offering a $1 Million Dollar Contest) has announced the second product from their company, Comic Book Creator, which is now available in a trial download to create your own MMO comics.
With the upcoming launch of Planetwide Games' landmark Comic Book Creator Self-Publishing software, the company is making available a Special 14-Day Trial version of the Comic Book Creator for a limited time

...

"People really need to experience the software for themselves, to truly appreciate 'Comic Book Creator's' ease of use and functionality," said Kevin Donovan, President of Planetwide Games. "This super simple, easy-to-use software allows the user to create personalized comic books using your own video game play, DVD movies, personal photos, and other digital imagery."
I've been playing with this all morning and enjoying the hell out of it, this will be a great product for those of us that suck at comics but always wanted to have a better way to tell our stories from games. Expect a review soon, in the meantime check it out for yourself.

VH1 has been running infommercials on this according to my daughter.

Alchemic Dream and Linden Labs:
Alchemic Dream Inc. announced a contract to provide first level support services with Linden Lab, developer's for Second Life. Starting October 1st, (which I gather has started already, unless they meant November 1st) Alchemic Dream will provide customer support for Second Life including localized support services with the upcoming international expansion of the virtual world.
"Second Life is an expanding online world, that has turned the dream of the famous "cyberpunk" writer William Gibson into reality" explains Aurélien Merville, CEO of Alchemic Dream Inc. "To answer the needs of its customers with the best possible quality, Linden Lab appointed Alchemic Dream, Inc. - the main provider of customer services in the online world industry. We’re glad to work on this innovative product and we’re convinced that our knowledge of the market will contribute to the satisfaction of every customer!"

"Alchemic Dream Inc. is a great fit for Linden Lab" said Robin Harper, Linden Lab's SVP of Community. "Their home-based agents are extremely cost-effective and because Second Life hosts an international community, we find Alchemic Dreams' multilingual support invaluable. I'm pleased we were able to find a company that not only met our service requirements but is a good personality match as well."
Alchemic Dream is everywhere and becoming the leader in support services for MMO Games.

SUN Enters Beta Two:
WEBZEN America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of WEBZEN Inc. announced today that Soul of the Ultimate Nation (SUN) is drawing nearer to its North American approach as the game entered its final round of closed beta testing in Korea. On Tuesday WEBZEN kicked off of the second phase of closed beta testing and welcomed 10,000 Korean gamers into the epic world of Soul of the Ultimate Nation.
“The positive reaction Korean gamers have had towards Soul of the Ultimate Nation in the closed beta testing is a testament to the development team’s vision of creating a truly unique MMORPG that combines the immersive storyline of a single player adventure role playing game with the intense combat of a 3D action game,” said Jun Hyun Kim, General Manager, WEBZEN America, Inc. “Soul of the Ultimate Nation is poised to raise the bar in the MMO space with its fierce multiplayer combat and stylish battles in a visually stunning game world.”

The first round of Soul of the Ultimate Nation’s Korean closed beta took place from September 27 to October 3 with 1,000 players selected from more than 430,000 beta applicants. The participants were most impressed by the game’s fluid character movement, console game-styled combat scenes and stunning visuals. The game’s battle zone system was also highly regarded for its customization, which allows users to set their own hunting ground, level of difficulty and participation criteria.

"WEBZEN America is eager to bring Soul Of The Ultimate Nation stateside and give North American gamers the chance to experience the distinctive gaming experience and eye candy this fantasy MMORPG has to offer,” said Aaron Rigby, WEBZEN America senior producer for Soul Of The Ultimate Nation.
It does look pretty decent.
