The Vicious Cycle
I have a taste for irony, but something is going sour. Either my taste for irony is dying, or the irony is going beyond even my levels of tolerance. Too many MMORPG developers have made the same mistakes. They have made the same wrong decisions. Time and time again, I fear we will be doomed to watch the games we enjoy corrupted by stupidity. Everquest was in reality the harbinger of this odd paradigm, but the half-assed developement decisions that birthed this concept did not begin with EQ nor will they end with EQ. We will always be plagued by the curse I speak of. Until Gandhi comes back to life and teams up with the Dalai Lama and the Shadowbane team to destroy the evil armies of Electronic Arts, Sony, and various other Satanic incarnations thereof, we're fresh out of luck. The problem will perpetuate itself, and it is likely we will face these changes in some mockup of a temporal loop straight out of a bad episode of Star Trek for quite some time. After all, it has been shown that developers learn slowly. Very slowly.

This unnamed dilemma I speak of is the Nerf. The Tweak. The Change. The act of reducing the power or the efficiency of an element of gameplay within the context of the game. The gradual (Or not-so-gradual) erosion of the original state of the gaming experience.

Son of a bitch!
This was sent to us by Jon with the X-gang.
It's worth a chuckle, well unless your the other guy.

Question: What is a sonofabitch exactly?

Quite often we ask ourselves hard to answer questions, like, "What is a sonofabitch?"
And we wax philosophic with metaphysical postulations, incomplete aphorisms and inconsistent sophism that make one more and more sure that the only true thing is that a picture is worth a thousand words.

In this photo, the guy on the right is a member of a bomb squad in midst of a deactivation. The guy behind him, well, he's a sonofabitch.
