After three days of compiling the votes, the results are in! 3500 of you dropped in to take the survey to su[pport your favorite game and games, and to show everyone what games you are most looking forward to in the year ahead! The games covered were for those that already had a release, were newly released, or had expansions that came out from November of 2003 thru November of 2004!
We asked: Which Massively Mulitplayer Game disappointed you with their cancellation? It's time now to share with you your answers! Which Massively Mulitplayer Game disappointed you with their cancellation? It's never easy to see a game you are looking forward to announce they are killing the project. As players we follow the games almost with a fanaticism to know everything, counting down the hours until we can create our accounts. Of the titles to cancel during the year, 58% of you all agree that the most disappointing cancellation went to Ultima X: Odyssey in development for EA/OSI Followed by Warhammer Online and Earth and Beyond. Which Massively Mulitplayer Game had the Best Community Relations through the year? Keeping your player base happy and informed is a never ending job, but by not doing it, your customers can become distraught and choose to move on. One company who always makes sure they keep their player base informed took 80% of the votes in which you all agree that Dark Age of Camelot from Mythic Entertainment has the best community relations! Followed by City of Heroes and World of Warcraft! Which Massively Mulitplayer Game are you most anticipating? As players we are always looking forward to the next game that will provide us with more hours of entertainment making our playtime the most enjoyable. Founded by former Blizzard team members, taking 75% of the votes as the most anticipated game for 2004 goes out to ArenaNet and their upcoming game Guild Wars! Tactical combat. No Monthly subscription fees, rich and rewarding character progression, what more could we want! Followed by Dungeons and Dragons Online and Middle Earth Online. Which Massively Mulitplayer Game Was the most improved over the past year? As players we know an MMO game is an ever evolving and changing beast. Sometimes they have problems, and game companies are always willing to listen to what we as players want to see implemented, improved or fixed. What has become a classic game, has only improved over time always maintaining a fresh new look, new content and improving on what is available for us as players to enjoy. 75% of the votes go out again to Mythic Entertainment as they take another category for Most Improved Game with Dark Age of Camelot! Followed by Anarchy Online and City of Heroes! Which Massively Mulitplayer Game released the Best Expansion over the past year? Keeping a game fresh with new content is always a project on top of a project. New lands, new classes, new monsters, evolving storylines, game play changes, giving us more to do when we explore everything in a games world. Expansions add to our worlds and offer more for our imaginations. Several games released great expansions last year, but out of them all, one gave us what we needed the most. 70% of the votes went out to SOE as they added a new dimension and allowed us to take off from the planets we were bound to as they opened up space for us to explore with SWG: Jump to Light Speed, where we pilot our ships and continue to battle the Imperial Forces or attempt to crush the rebellion in the universe created by Lucas Arts! Followed by AO: Alien Invasion and FFXI: Chains of Promathia. Massively Mulitplayer Game was the Best New Release for the year? During the time frame of our survey only four new releases were listed to choose from for 2004. Of those four, one game recaptured our imaginations breaking away from the traditional Sword & Sorcery fare being offered by the market and took us back into the days of our youth where we would pin a towel around our neck while running through the house portraying our favorite hero (or villain if you had younger siblings to pick on!) from the great pages of comic-books. 85% of you all agree that the best new game to release in 2004 goes out to Cryptic Studios with their entry City of Heroes! Followed by Lineage II and A Tale In The Desert II. A congratulations, and a thank you to all of the teams who have worked on providing us the best games we as players can indulge ourselves in and live out or fantasies within as we take much needed reality breaks as we invade your worlds with our imaginations!
